I couldn’t sleep the whole night but I didn’t get why I ended up with a fever the next day and my body ached so my mom being the parent she is insisted that I don’t go to school. Personally, I would’ve loved that but I wanted to see Althea. I was now on my way to school after my mom went to attend work.
I then saw someone I know I knew at the playground’s only swing. I hurriedly
walked towards school, wanting to avoid the risk of her seeing me. “Ryan.” She
spoke my name but to me it sounded like a yell.
She ran after me & I remembered me running after Althea yesterday. I heard the footsteps behind me stop. “Why are you doing this to me?” The words hit me the way I was expecting them to. “Why did you do that to me?” I asked. “I didn’t mean to,” she replied. “I’m sure you didn’t,” I said.
“Okay, I’m sorry. We broke up already. I need you back.” “That’s just how it is then
after all?” I inquired. I inhaled the breath she had just exhaled and smelled alcohol. “What else do you want me to tell you?”
She made her way to me and our lips were about to crash. My phone rang & I saw Spencer’s name flashing. I didn’t have to imagine the hurt that spread on her face when I pushed her away to answer my friend. I managed to stutter a nothing to his question before she threw my phone to the ground.
Althea’s point of view
I just watched Spencer in what seemed like futile efforts from him to contact Ryan. I didn’t know how to react. I mean, I’m not even his anything. I’m not even sure if we’re friends already after all, who would've wanted to be friends with someone who acted strangely towards you the day before.
